I am very proud to announce availability of the first production release of Zend Framework.
Many thanks to the scores of PHP developers who have worked for many months to make this product milestone possible. Zend Framework has followed a mission to provide classes that are extremely simple, yet powerful and extensible. Zend Framework is now the best class library available for PHP 5 web application development.
The Zend Framework project has developed solutions to solve frequent needs of web application developers, including the following areas:
- Powerful MVC framework
- Database access solution that balances ORM with efficiency and simplicity
- Lucene-compatible search engine
- Advanced I18N support
- Robust authentication/authorization classes and input filtering
- Rich web services client interfaces, including Google Data APIs and StrikeIron
- Many other useful classes to make you as productive as possible
- Thorough and high-quality test suites and documentation
- Open-source development process with an active community provides continuous review and testing
The Zend Framework is the best PHP 5 framework to meet modern business needs, being licensed under the New BSD license. The Contributor License Agreement assures that all code has been provided freely.

I would like to recommend you to download a copy of ZF's webinar Q&A here:

There is currently no official PEAR channel for the Zend Framework, and it will always be released as a whole product.
There is an unofficial PEAR channel for the Zend Framework, but I can not find the link at the moment, and I don't know if it's still being maintained.
Thank you for that great work!
What would be the benefit? Zend Framework is easily installable. Because the code base is relatively small I don't think that a componentized installer is needed.
In addition, the pear way isn't that ideal imho. I mean: setting up and using pear is quite a hassle on Win-systems at least. Think of memory limit problems etc.
But normally you could see these messages on the frontpage (framework.zend.com) and there was always a link to the release notes which i can't find now. This is because i'm really intrested which aspects of Zend_Search_Lucene has improved.
Congratulation for all ZF teams.
Thanks for all your hardwork.
I’ll give very brief comments here, but typically we keep discussions on the mailing list. – No, we have no plans to bundle ZF with PHP. – No, we have no plans to offer ZF under a PEAR channel or other piece-by-piece distribution method. – The link to the changelog can be found in the sidebar on the download page: http://framework.zend.com/download – Use chmod to set the directory permissions mode to anything you want. – Yes we are planning to design a good solution for composite views. This is a complex problem and we want to try to solve it in a way that won’t result in a complex programming interface.
... and this is just the beginning!
I am so happy with the approach that the ZF team have taken with this framework:
From my limited experience this framework is a coherent and cohesive set of classes which can be used in isolation or as a full application stack. The use of recommendations, rather than inflexible rules, is really reassuring for those of us wanting to build future-proof, flexible applications.
I also love the way some of the best PEAR modules (Log, DB_Table, Config, ...) have been replicated, improved and robustified.
I look forward to seeing ZF attaining similar status & quality to that of Spring in the Java world.
I can already picture how tools will be built On Top of ZF, to ease the startup of greenfield zf projects ... maybe it's time I wrote an Eclipse plugin for a recommended-file-structure zf project ... maybe Zend already working on it?

I understand that Zend Framework all have been created both for appendices web and for other types of appendices, but probably first of all for creation web appendices.
From this the question, on creation by developers Zend Framework also follows
CMS appendices.
