Zend invites submissions to the Zend/PHP Conference and Expo, ZendCon08, which will be held September 15-18 at the Santa Clara Convention Center. ZendCon is the largest gathering of the PHP community and is the one time a year to mingle with the core developers, business leaders, and prominent members of the PHP community.

This year’s conference program will include competitively selected presentations, tutorials, and invited speakers. All sessions undergo a peer review process by the ZendCon Content Review team.

With the great success of ZendCon ‘07 in Burlingame last year, we are happy that we have to move to a larger facility this year and excited the Santa Clara Convention Center will give us the room we need to grow this conference even larger. This year’s conference includes more sessions which means more opportunities for speakers.

ZendCon welcomes submissions from developers and members of the business community alike. This year, the conference will be forward looking by tackling the topic of Rich Internet Applications. In addition to topics like performance and scalaibility, we will welcome proposals discussing the hows and whys of RIAs.
Our tracks this year are:

  • The Basics of PHP
  • Advanced PHP Topics
  • Performance and Scalability
  • Rich Internet Applications
  • Best Practices
  • Zend Framework
  • Vendor Presentations

Please note that vendor presentations are reserved for our partners in the Expo Center. We welcome your presentations for that track but all submissions will be followed up by the Expo Center team.

There are two types of sessions this year, tutorials and general sessions. Tutorials are 3 hours in length while general sessions are 60 minutes in length. Additionally, we have sessions available for the unconference that range from 20 to 60 minutes. Session submitted for the ZendCon UnCon will be forwarded to our UnCon chair for review. We regret that we cannot offer compensation to speakers for presenting at the ZendCon UnCon.

This call for papers ends April 30th, 2008. Slots always fill up fast for ZendCon so we urge you to submit sooner rather than later.
