Sample Chapter From Pro PHP, Patterns, Frameworks, Testing and More
My buddy Julie Miller over at apress has come through for us again. In addition to keeping me rolling in a sea of black and yellow books, she always makes a point to try and share back a little with the community. Don’t get me wrong, I like all my friends at the edifferent publishers and am happy to review or run samples for any of them. Julie is the only one though that sends me the ToC of the new book and asks which chapter I want to run!
So today you get a double bonus. You get to check out Pro PHP, Patterns, Frameworks, Testing and more by Kevin McArthur. You also get a great tutorial on SPL! (Do me a favor, drop apress a comment on their site telling them thank you for being fan-tabulous)
Here’s the link to Chapter 9:Introduction to SPL
Here’s a quick excerpt from their page describing the book.
Taking care to focus solely on those topics that will have the most impact on experienced PHP developers, Pro PHP is written for readers seeking to take their understanding of both PHP and sound software development practices to the next level. Advanced object-oriented features, documentation, debugging, software patterns, and the Standard PHP Library are just a few of the topics covered in extensive detail.
Author and noted PHP expert Kevin McArthur also examines emerging practices and trends such as the MVC architecture as applied to PHP, with special emphasis placed upon the increasingly popular Zend Framework.
With Ajax and web services crucial to the success of todays web applications, the book concludes with several chapters covering JSON, the SOAP extension, and advanced web services topics.
While I’ve not had the chance to review the book, I hope that I will receive my copy soon and present you will a full accounting.
