FREE BOOK! "Developing PHP Applications for IBM Data Servers"

Is there anything IBM won’t do for attention? Now they’ve taken to publishing high-quality PHP books for free on their site. This one, titled Developing PHP Applications for IBM Data Servers was published back in May and somehow escaped my watchful eye. It really is great to see content of this quality and quantity (Did I mention it weighs in at 444 pages of PDF goodness!) These guys have set the bar pretty high for other FOS Books.

Enough from me. Let me rip some content off of their site for your further education. Here is their description of the book.

PHP is one of the world’s most popular programming languages for building dynamic data-driven Web applications, and IBM data servers store a majority of the world’s data—combining these two technologies is a natural step for any Web developer.

Also, here’s their Chapter List

  • Chapter 1. Technology overview
  • Chapter 2. Sample scenario description
  • Chapter 3. Zend installation and configuration
  • Chapter 4. PHP application development with DB2
  • Chapter 5. PHP applications with Informix database servers
  • Chapter 6. Port PHP applications from MySQL V5 to DB2 UDB V8.2
  • Appendix A. An introduction to Service Data Objects for PHP

So rush right out to your bookstore and thumb your nose at them; this one is on IBM.
