Things are really starting to heat up in the kitchen over at CakePHP as they announce their first (annual?) Baking Day “24 Hour coding contest”. While the ingredients list in incomplete for Baking Day we do know that it contain equal measures of of inspiration, hard work, teamwork and don’t forget to mix in a heaping helping of the secret ingredient, CakePHP.
Armando Sosa is the head chef for Baking Day and he describes it in his blog like this:
How will it work? Well, I don’t really have all the rules outlined yet but it will be something like this: Yourself or your team (up to three) have to completely build an app from scratch in 24 hours using the fantabulous CakePHP framework which is going to compete with many other apps to emerge as the winner.
Armando is looking for people to help with the contest. If you are interested in helping as a sponsor, a collaborator, or a judge, you can contact him via a form on his website. There’s also a sign-up form (It’s a true Web 2.0 site, all you can do is enter your email address) on the website and an email address you can use to contact about sponsoring.
I wonder if I can enter the same app in Baking Day and the next SuperHappyDevHouse contest? One more and we could have a PHP “Triple Crown”. (But that’s probably trademarked as well.)
