I recently received a private email announcing to only me and about one billion other people that Zend (he who pays the DevZone bills) has released the latest versions of Zend Platform and Zend Core for Oracle.

First, let’s look at Zend Platform. Here’s is the text of the release memo I was sent.

Zend Platform 2.2.2 encapsulates various bug-fixes with a focus on installation-related issues. Interesting facts:

  • PHP 5.1.6 support
  • Total count of 131 fixed bugs.
  • The addressed issues are based on real-life customers’ issues (where the majority of those have resulted in support tickets). Please refer to the Release Notes for detailed information.
  • This release also includes the Security Update which was released a couple of weeks ago.
  • Additional important, useful enhancements & tools are also included in this release, such as: Support Tool for Windows version, ability to install Zend Platform on top of XAMPP, Debugger 5.2.1, and more.

You can try it at: http://www.zend.com/products/zend_platform

Remember Zend Platform is FREE (as in Beer) for development servers. (But everybody knows as soon as you see how cool it is you are gonna want to but a copy for every production server you have!)

Next release on the hit parade, Zend Core for Oracle 1.5.0. Since the products share some common code, some of the updates are the same.

PHP:

  • PHP 5.1.6 support
  • Updated Zend Core for Oracle, PHP extension list
  • Improved the Zend Enabler for Windows (PHP bug fix)
  • Updated Client libraries
  • Upgrade the Zend Core embedded Apache to the latest version – 2.0.59
  • Update of ZCO extension list and client libraries

Oracle Database:

  • Updated Oracle OCI8 extension and Oracle Instant Client

Web Server:

  • New! Optional installation and configuration of Apache 2.0.59 for Unix

No release notes link on this one, but you can read more about it over at Alison Holloway’s blog. Anyhow, it’s fresh code, get it while it’s hot!
