Looking for a little freelance work? Want to work on (what I consider to be) a cool project?
If you’ve got spare cycles and want to help a brother out, read on. I received this from Leonard Rapoport of the International Press Association, (Disclaimer:Zend is a member of the IPA) The IPA is looking for some help. As you can see from the email below, they need a PHP programmer to help them out on some small projects and know of some larger projects they could turn you on it.
Our company has some small needs that need to be addressed and my son’s company has much greater need. Although they have a full time designer and programmer, it doesn’t seem to be enough at times and they too need additional help.
I remembered you were our PHP member and wanted to touch base with you to see if someone you knew would be available for some extra work. Being a small organization as we are, the need to find someone within our budget is always a concern.
This is your chance. Work with an international company, meet interesting people, and get paid! Drop Leonard an email if you are interested and get the conversation rolling.

Did they not find me a possible candidate? Did they just ignore my email? Whatever the reason... not a good sign in an employer.
We have actually filled our requirements for now and made an attempt to email him that we would keep his name on a list for possible future work and I would forward his email to our chief programmer in Germany. Unfortunately the email we sent Kevin was returned to us, please see header below:

Quite frankly, after seeing his comment about us not responding immediately and how unprofessional it was, was a little out of line. I suppose this individual has to learn that when you send emails that are unsolicited to companies, some never get through, some of the individuals receiving the emails have to sort through them and prioritize them for responses and of course, some people do leave town on business, have email issues, or don't pick up their business emails over the week-ends.
This would certainly not be the type of individual our company would consider for any assignments. All of our team members have the necessary people skills we need as well as, a high level of competency.
If we need additional staff, we will be sure to post it here. Thank you all that did reply and speak to us about our needs for your interest. Hopefully as we continue to grow our company and our needs require additional staff, will call on you for future assignments.
Sincerely,
Len Rapoport
President
