Sr. Software Engineer

Software engineer needed to join the core team of engineers. Work on the design and implementation of cutting-edge web applications related to content authoring and management. You must have a solid foundation (education or experience) in the following:

Requirements:

  • Strong OO design skills and instincts
  • An understanding of relational database structure and queries (SQL)
  • Fundamental understanding of WWW programming, including Web server configuration and Internet protocols (HTTP, SOAP) and declarative languages (XML, HTML)
  • The ability to set up and maintain your own Unix box
  • Experience with the full lifecycle of major applications development in C, C++, C#, Java, Perl, PHP or ASP
  • Must play well with others and have the capacity to gracefully accept criticism

Bonus Points:

  • A knowledge of the CGI programming interface and the basic environment it provides, servlet programming, Java beans, and J2EE application servers, or embedded template processing (PHP and ASP)
  • An understanding of the Windows registry, the print spooler subsystem, COM, and .NET
  • Knowledge of C and C++ programming, (STL, standard C library, memory management, and design skills)
  • Programming of sockets and higher-level RPC mechanisms such as SOAP and XML-RPC
  • Previous experience writing or managing payment gateways, financial transactions, shopping carts, or securing and storing financial data
  • XML Skills: Familiarity with Sax and DOM parsing, XML namespaces, XSLT transformations, Xpath data mining, or XSL-FO objects
  • Knowledge of the Postscript and PDF specifications, such as basic Postscript commands and stack manipulation, PDF path commands and generation, font specifications, font dictionary and embedding, PDF native types, references, streams, and graphics states
  • Programming with existing Postscript and PDF interpreters or APIs such as Ghostscript, Pdflib, Jaws, ActivePdf, or Adobe’s native PDF APIs are huge bonuses
  • Experience with Latex and TEI
  • Familiarity with agile programming methodologies, such as XP, Scrum, or Crystal Clear

Financial Systems Engineer

Take us to the next step by helping with the evolution of our e-commerce and product fulfillment systems. This position will have a specific focus on the challenges associated with internationalization. Strong attention to detail is a must.

Requirements:

  • Previous development of eCommerce software or financial services applications
  • Engineering support for multiple currencies within complex transactional models
  • Candidates with experience creating payment gateways, shopping carts, insurance, securities, or banking applications preferred
  • 5+ years of Web applications programming experience with PHP, ASP, Ruby, Python, Java, or Perl
  • Experience with XML parsing and XSLT transformations
  • Ability to restore and retrieve data with optimum performance using SQL queries
  • Experience with and commitment to the full lifecycle of software development processes
  • Experience maintaining code in a source control repository, i.e. Perforce, Subversion, Clearcase, etc.
  • Familiarity with financial statement processing
  • Strong database skills are a must!
  • Familiarity with agile programming methodologies, such as XP, Scrum, or Crystal Clear a plus!
