When I venture out into the real world, the one not populated with developers, I get a lot of strange looks and odd stares when I talk. Apparently there are a lot of people out there who don’t grok grep, have never been slashdotted, and can’t tell a brown number from a WAG. I saw r0ml give a talk one year about domain specific languages and how they are important. I apologize to r0ml for bastardizing his idea but today I am going to share five of our more colorful terms from the software development DSL.

p. Thanks to Laura Thomson for pointing this out to me. Apparently Vanessa, proprietor of http://v-nessa.net is the latest to realize that the PHP community is not just a bunch of smart people, we are dead sexy too.

p. It has been said that statistics can be used to prove anything. Blog author jimbojw has taken that more as a challenge than as a statement has has released 2 posts on his blog detailing his “findings”. Click on in and see what I’m talking about and how this related to PHP.

p. Ok, it’s a drizzly evening here in Toronto. All the sessions for php|works are done for the day. So let’s take a break and jam to some tunes. [WARNING: This has absolutely nothing to do with PHP. I just thought it was funny and wanted to share it with you.]
