Report Review: Open Source in the Enterprise

Last week, O’Reilly Radar released their latest report, “Open Source in the Enterprise”. We don’t usually review reports on DevZone but this one struck a chord.

OSCON '07 Wrapup

The echoes from the last OSCON parties haven’t even stopped reverberating though the halls as the next convention moves in. The vendors are all long gone and the attendees are all shoved in tiny seats on their express flight back to the real world. Let’s take a quick look over our shoulder at the party that was OSCON ‘07 before answering the call of the road and heading off to the next event.

Report from the Field:Web 2.0 Expo Wrap-up

The Wi-Fi is now silent, (but at least it’s up) the 20 foot banners are now all rolled up and for the first time this week, booth minions are smiling because they want to, not because they have to. Let’s take a look over our shoulder at the very first Web 2.0 Expo before adjusting the Fedora and heading on to the next one.

Report From the Field: Web 2.0 Expo

O’Reilly now hosts 2 Web 2.0 events per year and in the last 6 months, I’ve attended both of them. I’ll have to say, bang for the buck, Web 2.0 Expo is the better of the two in my opinion. OSCON WRapup: The Party's Over

The booths have been shipped back to their warehouses for another year; the vendors are all combing through their business cards looking for hot leads; (what, you didn’t think this was all about the sessions did you?) and the speakers have all arrived home safely. The party’s officially over, let’s take a quick glance over the shoulder before heading to the next one.

Learning PHP & MySQL

The O’Reilly fairy visited me this past week and in the package was their newest PHP offering “Learning PHP & MySQL”. Find where I’ve cleverly hidden the [ more ] link to get my full thoughts on the book.

A Quick Look at OSCON 2006

Each year developers are called upon to make an agonizing choice. Each year there are more and more conferences offered on a wide range of interesting topics. Developers have to reach deep into their souls and find the one conference they feel so strongly will further their career that they are willing to beg to attend. Worse yet, they are willing to submit to the proctology exam called an expense report just for the privilege. The choices this year for PHP developer aren’t any easier. Let’s take a look at one of them to see what it has to offer.
