This year’s edition of php|works will take place in Atlanta, Georgia, home of the Braves and of the Atlanta PHP user group, on September 13th and 14th, with an extra tutorial day on September 12th.

Last week, Marco Tabini, publisher of php|architect and all around nice guy, posted the “Call For Papers” for php|tek 2007. The theme this year is PHP::innovate(). Since I couldn’t find my “marketing speak to English” dictionary I decided to call Marco and see if he could translate it for me manually. Click on inside and I’ll share with you what I learned.

As Andi Gutmans presented at his php|tek keynote, and reinforced by IBM in their showing of QEDWiki, there is indeed a place in PHP for the Rapid Application Development. As part of Andi’s keynote, he spoke about component architectures and showed a quick demo of what that might look like in the future. He did so with a proof of concept called phpBlox. Now, don’t get too excited, it looks nice and worked for the demo, but we are still only at the beginning of the Road to RAD.
