At the MySQL conference today, a number of announcements were made at the keynote.
A hot topic was of course the Oracle acquisition of Sun, and therefore MySQL. Not much was said at this time about the details. But it was stated that Oracle believes that both MySQL and Oracle have different target audiences, and that therefore both of them will continue to be independently developed and marketed.
But the other big announcement, was that “MySQL 5.4 is now available as a preview release”:http://www.mysql.com/5.4
