p. Nick Lo has been a busy man of late. First a post for the child in all of us as “Mr. Dizzy learns how not to program”:https://devzone.zend.com/article/675. Now he shows us how “RewriteRouter and Zend_Config play together”:http://www.ingredients.com.au/nick/2006/07/18/rewriterouter-and-zend_config-play-together/ in applications built on the Zend Framework.

p. Normally I don’t cover every single post a blogger makes but Nick’s on a roll and I feel obligated to point these quality articles out to you. First the quote:

bq. The point of RewriteRouter is to map urls, like ingredients.com.au/recipe/tomato_sambal, to whatever controller, action and parameters needed without having to use external (and often painful!) methods like mod_rewrite.

p. Nick shows you how to store your routes in a file outside your bootstrap and load them in using Zend_Config. Along with a pretty good description of what is trying to accomplish, Nick gives you a heaping plate full of sample code to illustrate his points.

p. *Warning: This is subversive code!* As such, you must check out the latest version from the “subversion repository”:http://framework.zend.com/wiki/display/ZFDEV/Zend+Framework+Subversion+Standards before you can play with Nick’s ideas.
