p. One of the great things about my job is the people I get to work with on a daily basis. One of the people that make the experience so much fun is one of the “Zend Goddesses of Marketing” Ms. Te Smith. Te is managing the details of the coming ZendCon so I thought I’d call her up and quiz her on the conference. Because the conference is mere weeks away, getting phone time with Te is nigh-on impossible. However after sufficient supplication and begging, I was granted an audience. Here’s what Te had to say when I asked her how things were shaping up for ZendCon.
p. __”The program has come together really well. We have a strong lineup of keynote speakers as well as sessions. David Berlind is coming in. He’s the Executive Editor at ZDNet and the creator of “Mashup Camp”. He’s a really insightful guy. Robert “r0ml” Lefkowitz will be there. He’s an incredibly intelligent and witty man and he will be our closing keynote. Chris Anderson, author of “The Long Tail” and editor-in-chief of Wired magazine will be there. Chris brings a unique perspective to the conference because of his work on “The Long Tail”. We also have Matthew Rechs joining us from Schematic. Matthew brings a lot of “customer oriented” experience with him to the conferences. He has worked building web based applications for other customers.__
p. __Of course we have our friends from IBM, Anant Jhingran and Mike Smith giving the keynote on Wednesday titled “Innovation That Matters: Making it Easy for Developers to Rapidly Deploy Usable & Actionable Information”. That should be real interesting.__
p. __On Tuesday we have a panel discussion titled “How Do the Stacks Stack Up?” moderated by Steve O’Grady from Redmonk. The participants are:__
* __Tim Bray, Sun Microsystems__
* __Bill Hilf, Microsoft__
* __Marten Mickos, MySQL__
* __Anant Jhingran, IBM__
p. __So we have some excellent keynotes lined up that we are really excited bout. We also have some great sessions scheduled as well. We were really pleased by the response we got from the “Call for Papers”. We received over two hundred submission for the sessions and tutorials. The end result was that we will have a lot of great content that will be offered in the sessions themselves.__
p. __Of course there are some great social events going on as well. The IBM System I group is sponsoring a “Pirates of the Caribbean” party. Facebook is sponsoring a lounge along with the other sponsors in the exhibit hall. So there will be a lot of chances for people to talk, hang out, compare notes, as well as learn.”__
Wow, I am really glad I didn’t ask her a difficult question, we could have been here a while.
Thank you so much Te for taking the time out of your hectic schedule to talk with me.
